NOMINA EMBRYOLOGICA VETERINARIA, SECOND EDITION -2006 (PDF)

Veterinary Anatomy is a branche of morphology which deals with the gross morphological structure of domestic animals, especially topography and interrelations structure of organ systems. The animal body is investigated either systematically or regionally in anatomy education. The first one is known as "Systematic Anatomy", the latter is "Topographic anatomy". A branch of Systematic Anatomy which deals with systems of different animal species is Comparative Systematic Anatomy. Systematic Anatomy is divided as follows;

1. Osteology describes the skeleton bones and cartilage’s and their functions such as support and protection of different body parts.

2. Syndesmology describes the joints which make the rigid segments of bones moveable and hold them together with strong bands, the ligaments. 3. Myology describes the muscles and accessory structures that function in assembling the bones and joints into useful motion.

4. Splanchnology describes the viscera including digestive, respiratory and urogenital apparatus peritoneum and ductless glands.

5. Angiology describes the organs of circulatory system (heart, arteries, veins, lymphatics and spleen).

6. Neurology describes the nervous system. In this section, the role function of nervous system in controlling and coordinating different body parts is also thought.

7. Sensory organs, which connect the individual to it's environment.

8. Common Integument describes the skin which functions as a protective envelope of the body, as an important part of temperature regulatory system, concerned with sensations and limited excretory and absorbing powers.

For teaching purposes in our department horse, cow, sheep, cat, dog and fowl models are present.
